Download ResourceOverview According to the United Nations, human trafficking is the recruitment, transportation, sheltering, and transfer of persons for exploitation purposes using threats, coercion, or force. Currently, there are more than 24.9 million people that are trapped in modern slavery, and most of them are exploited for either sex or labor. Statistics i. 19 % of trafficking involves labor exploitation, and 80% involves sexual exploitation. ii. The average age of teens in the sex trade in the United States is between 12 and 14 years. iii. Between 14,500 and 17,500 individuals are trafficked in the United States each year. iv. The third-largest international crime industry is human trafficking, and it is estimated that the industry makes a profit of $32 billion each year. What We Do i. Work with the local authorities to protect children vulnerable to trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. ii. Help girls below 22 years to exit the sex industry. iii. Rescue children from trafficking and sexual slavery then provide them with rehabilitation, safety, and education. iv. Empower both male and female survivors of prostitution and human trafficking. v. Raise funds and awareness for human trafficking victims who have been displaced. vi. Empower at-risk individuals to prevent them from getting into prostitution or being trafficked.
